  84. VB Icon Extractor is an icon copy machine!  Use this easy-to-use program
  85. to copy icons that are hidden away in various Windows files.  Simply
  86. select the directory to start from and press the Copy Icons button! VB
  87. Icon Extractor can copy icons from an individual file, all appropriate
  88. files in the selected directory, and can even read all subdirectories!
  89. To copy icons on an entire drive, simply start from the root directory!
  90. Which file format(s) to copy icons from can easily be designated.  Icons
  91. are copied to the specified path as individual .ICO icon files which can
  92. be used by VB Icon Browser and other icon programs or .BMP bitmap files

  139. ===== Installation =====================================
  140.  
  141. An installation program, "SETUP.EXE", is normally included which will
  142. properly install VB Icon Extractor for you.  This installation program
  143. should be executed from the Windows Program Manager.  The instructions
  144. are for use with WinSetup which is normally the installation program
  145. used with VB Icon Extractor.  Installation will vary if a different
  146. installation program is included.  If no installation program is
  147. included, the executable file is "VBXICON.EXE" which can be run from
  148. File Manager.

  150. RUNNING THE SETUP PROGRAM
  151.  
  152. From Windows Program Manager:
  153.  
  154. 1) Select the FILE menu
  155.  
  156. 2) Select the RUN... menu item
  157.  
  158. 3) Enter A:SETUP or B:SETUP if installing from a floppy disk
  159.    or substitute the path where the setup program is if installing
  160.    from a hard drive (example: c:\download\iconx\setup)

  162. USING THE SETUP PROGRAM

  164. After executing the setup program, you will see a dialog box where you
  165. can enter the path where the VB Icon Extractor files are and enter the
  166. path you want to install VB Icon Extractor.  You should not need to
  167. change the "Install from drive:" field.  If you want to install VB Icon
  168. Extractor to a path other than the default, you can enter the preferred
  169. path in the "Install to directory:" field.  To view the VB Icon
  170. Extractor "read me" text file, simply press the "View Document File..."
  171. button.  Press the "Ok" button to begin the installation.

  173. If you are asked to replace any files, press the "YES" button to
  174. overwrite the file(s).
  175.  
  176. Once the files have been copied to the installation directory, you will
  177. be asked if you want to create a VB Icon Extractor program group in
  178. Program Manager.  Press the "YES" button to create the VB Icon Extractor
  179. program group and add icons for the executable, help, and text files.

  181. AFTER INSTALLATION

  183. After installation is completed, run VB Icon Extractor by double
  184. clicking the program icon.  When you see the main dialog box, you might
  185. want to press the "HELP" button for information or just let VB Icon
  186. Extractor go to work by pressing the "COPY ICONS" button.  On-line
  187. context-sensitive help is always available by selecting what you want
  188. help on (use the tab key), then pressing the F1 key.
